HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We just wanted to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.
Here are a couple new pictures, the one with the hoodie is from Rio's first run at the beach, she is up to 1 hour so we are very happy with her progress so far, the next one is Rio at Pete's coffee with Uncle Selko apre run.
The other is a smiley shot, she thinks I'm
funny.
More coming soon.

Our first restaurant outing

Rio made it through her first restaurant experience like champ. We went to Tara's, our local Himalayan restaurant (what, don't you have yours?). We eat there often, and have gotten to know the staff so we felt it would be OK even if Rio began to cause a scene. It's a nice mellow place, kinda dark with Himalayan music playing so it makes for a really nice place to take a nap. Perfect. There was not a peep out of her, she slept the entire time we at the table, all much to the dismay of the employees who had been trying to figure out which one of them would get to hold her if she began to cry. It was really nice to just go out and grab a bite to eat, I think that we are finally getting to our "new normal" and are comfortable getting out and doing whatever we want to do. The hardest thing to do seems to be exercise, motivation has been a bit low but I think that we are coming back around. Mel has started doing baby boot camp with miss Rio in tow and I just registered for a 1/2 marathon Feb.1 so we hope to be back on track in no time.
We hope you all have a nice Holiday and a Happy New Year! We hope to see everyone soon.
Love ya.

Getting bigger

Rio is now 6+ weeks and we are all pretty well settled. She now weighs over 9 lbs and is generally a happy baby. We started taking her out more, which has made life a whole lot better, it was hard being "stuck" inside for those few weeks but things are a lot more fun now. Well here are a few new pictures.

Thanksgiving

Rio's first Thanksgiving has come and gone, we had a great time. It has been a quite a while since my whole family has been in the same room at the same time so I think we all really appreciated the time together.

It was really nice to see how excited Kasey and Cooper got to meet their new baby cousin, they both seemed to take a real liking to her right away.

So everyone is gone and we are just starting to go through the pictures from the last 2 weeks. There are more to come, just wanted to post a couple of new ones for everyone to see.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving as well, hopefully we can all get together soon, Rio still has many people that she wants to meet.
We miss you all, Love ya.

So she's growing

Rio went to the Dr and all seems to be going well. She is now a whopping 7lbs 6oz and measures a HUGE 19 3/4 inches. That's all the new news, there are more pictures to come since the family is here and everyone is snapping away. Cooper was very excited to meet his cousin, he is already very protective of her.

Our Dr. visit

So all is well with Miss Rio, she is back to her birth weight of 6lbs 13oz so we know that she is eating well. She was also lucky enough to find her thumb today, she seems to like it a lot, we will just have to make sure that she does not claw out her eye in the process.

Some pictures

Poop N Stuff

So there has been a lack of updating going on the past few days, Mel and I are flying solo now and just trying to figure out how all of this is going to work. We have been sleeping a little, longest stretch is around 3-4 hrs overnight which from what I understand is pretty good. Considering Mel and I used to go to sleep at 10pm with a 5:30am wake up it takes a bit of getting used to going to bed at midnight waking up at 3am up for an hour and back to bed for a bit. It is a bit of a shock to the system, but after a bit of time I think we will be good to go. Rio is doing well, she has gained 4oz in the 4 days we have been home and she is peeing and pooping like a champ. Actually today little Rio shot her poop about 4ft across the room so her pooping power is pretty impressive, which is nice. The lesson learned here is that it does not matter that you just took off a dirty diaper and cleaned her up a bit make sure you get the new diaper on ASAP, a baby can can reload rather quickly and you must always be ready for friendly fire.
Hope your all well, we love ya.

Posting comments

A few people have sent emails asking how they can leave a comment on one of my new posts, as it turns out it is pretty simple.
Under the date and title for each new post you will see the following

Family photo

My dad snapped this off as my folks were leaving town, upon receipt we realized that this is our very first family photo. That's pretty cool!!! And check Rio out, she's working it for the camera and everything.

Rio's 1st film

Here's a quick video we took before leaving the hospital, we will add more later.
Love ya.

Here's Rio

Well, she's here, a bit early but we are psyched to finally meet her. Rio Macy was born on 11/1/08 at 10:47am, she weighed in at a whopping 6lbs 13oz, I guess no one was really expecting Melissa and I to have a giant anyway. Here is a quick photo, I will add some more in the next day or two but I just wanted to make sure that you could put a face with name. Thank you all so much for your love and support, it means soooo much to Mel and I that you are all thinking about us even though we are all so far away. On another note, you may notice that this blog is now at a new address, you will also see that on the top right of this page there is a place that says email subscribe. If you enter you email address you will get a email in your box each time that I update the site, that way I do not have to send a mass email out to everyone whenever something new goes up. Thanks so much again, we love you and miss you. Hope to see everyone soon!

Welcome to early labor

We went to see the Dr. this morning and we were told that Mel is now in the early stages of labor. She is 1-2cm dilated, knowing this still does not help us with a “when is this going to happen” date. Dr. says we can be a few days to 2 weeks out so I guess I will just keep my cell phone on and wait for Mel to call me. Keep you all posted.

By popular demand..........

Apparently people want to see a picture of Mel pregnant, it’s like sasquatch, you can hear stories but until you see it with your own eyes you don’t believe it. As some of you may know it is not so easy to get final approval from Mel when it comes to releasing photos, here are two that I have taken recently.
In other news, Mel’s last day of work was yesterday, that leaves us 2 weeks out from our due date. We think are are about as ready as we can be so we are now just waiting for the bomb to drop..................

The baby's room

So here is a quick look at the baby’s room, we have been pretty busy the last few months setting everything up. We have probably thrown out more stuff in the past 3-4 months then in the last 3-4 years, it has actually been a pretty cathartic experience. For some reason a little human needs a fair amount of stuff, but I think that we have done a nice job on getting everything ready so our little girl will be comfy when she gets here. For a better look at her room have a look at this video.

Welcome

So, we are having a baby! We have put this blog together so that all of you who don’t live around the corner can keep up with everything that is going on with us. We wish that you could all be here and be a part of this with us, but for now this will just have to do. I guess we are pretty lucky to even be able to do this, seeing that I spent the first 7 years of my life outside the country I am sure that my folks would have killed to keep everyone posted in such an easy manner. We hope that you will all check in from time to time to see what’s going on, we miss you and hope to see you all very soon.
